  • Kids Vote Virginia This was an annual project from 1999 - 2004.  We set up and maintained a polling place for children at a neighborhood precinct. The girls set up at 6:00am and worked in shifts throughout the day until polls close at 7:00pm.  Children came with their parents and voted for elected officials or on local referendums. Ballots were collected and driven to Norfolk for counting and results are published in the Virginian Pilot Newspaper. All materials are provided by Kids Vote Virginia.  The troop served more than 300+ children in November 2000. For more information on Kids Voting USA check out the web links under Favorite Websites.

  • Election 2000 took place November 7, 2000.  This was a memorable Presidential Election that the troop will not soon forget!

  • Relay for Life Survivor Celebration is held each year to honor the Survivors of Cancer.  The event is held prior to the Relay for Life Fundraiser.  As many as 1200-2000 survivors come together to celebrate.  Girl Scout Troop 183 has assisted with the registration, distribution of materials and signatures on the banner that is carried in the first lap of the Relay.  This is a special project that honors friends and family members who are fighting or lost their battle to cancer.

  • We participate annually in memory of Troop Mom, Shelley C. Shelley who lost her battle to cancer in August 2002, just 3 weeks after our return from Paris.
